AVENTURA SPA PALACE
PLAYA DEL CARMEN
QUINTANA ROO, MEXICO
NOVEMBER 26-30, 2003
FRIDAY
We found
the best palapa and set up shop early, and then walked over to the buffet
for breakfast--made-to-order omelettes and a huge assortment of different
foods, hot and cold. Carol took a bus to the North Lobby (it's too far
to walk between the two lobbies) and had a pedicure and manicure. Lunch
at the snack bar, sitting in beach chairs. I've decided that the best drink
is a frozen daiquiri. My next goal is to keep my scrotum inside my bathing
suit and to walk. The hot tub reminds me of my polio youth, when FDR and
I shared the baths at Hot Springs. Between Carol's support and encouragement
and attentiveness and a constant infusion of frozen daiquiris, I am managing
to enjoy muself, putting off the inevitible (whatever that is) until we
return.
After another Jacuzzi and nap, we took a bus to the North Lobby and
ate in a beautiful and relaxing Oriental restaurant with lousy sushi, but
excellent mushroom soup, marinated raw thin-sliced flank steak, and good
Shanghai filet of grouper. We skipped the evening strip-tease show and
went to bed.
