Saturday morning, we brought in bialys and smoked fish from Barney Greengrass, where Carol left a gruss from Ezra, from out recent trip to Florida. Then we cabbed down to the East Village to see the Steuer-Ingalls. Now, is she just cuter than ever, or what? She no longer walks like Frankenstein, but struts purposefully around the house. Teletubbies are giving way to Sesame Street. She says two word sentences. And, for the first time, she said 'Zayde." All right, it wasn't exactly "Zaydie..." it was more like "Aydie," but that was enough to melt my heart. So there we all are: Daddy, Mummy, Bubbe, Aydie, and, later in the day, Ani and Neeyal.

We went back to the apartment, and Neal and Andy arrived for a visit. Neal captivated Josie with a 20-minute recital of childrens' songs, his own public recital and public debut that afternoon having been canceled by his teacher because, like Horowitz, "he vass not yett rrraddy!" Neal has won Josie's heart ever since a long night they spent together in the ER months ago with an unremitting ear infection. Josie enjoyed flirting with him and Andy, playing "Where's Josie?"

She loves to blow bubbles with her Daddy, or watch Sesame Street with her Bubbe.

She likes to ride her bicycle, or just stand at the window and watch the world go by.

It was Marjorie's birthday, so Jonathan took her out to dinner at Tabla and then to a movie.
