After dinner, we went upstairs to the Women's League Sanctuary where students, colleagues, and friends were waiting for Carol's lecture: "Chicken Soup and Affluenza: Jewish Responses to Materialism. The Chancellor said glowing things about Carol and the importance of Jewish Education at the Seminary. He made a point of welcoming Carol's own role model, her third-grade Hebrew teacher, Mollie Glanz, who had come in with her family for teh occasion. She delivered it with her usual mixture of charm, grace, intellect, and humor.
